I think both companies are good in what they do because Sony was the first company to invent the portable walkman and Apple made our lives easier. For example ( CD's to iPod).
I think Apple is the best. They think and design taking consumer choice in prospective. All the products that Apple invented/designed are highly daily useable for a normal person. That is the reason Apple is one of the most innovative companies of the current time period. Also, Apple got more popularity than Sony in shorter period of time.
APPLE! iPad 3 coming out next year! It's the only reason I'm not buying the iPad right now. Let's keep having Apple steal all of our money in exchange for fancy, luxuries items.
I think Apple is the 'better' brand because of the user-friendly interface it provides for it's consumers.
